NEW! Pharmacist's Guide to Malpractice

Pharmacists are health professionals who assist individuals in making the best use of medications. As a pharmacist, you are expected to know about the medication of any prescription you fill: its indications and contraindications, safe dosages and potential adverse responses. But knowing about drugs isn't enough to prevent errors. Regardless whether those errors cause harm to a patient, you still are at risk of being named in a lawsuit.

The continuing education series offered through HPSO, the program for professional liability insurance coverage sponsored by APhA, has been designed specifically for pharmacists to help you:

  • Understand the risks of malpractice;
  • Learn how to protect yourself from malpractice; and,
  • Learn what to do if you're sued for malpractice.

The content and tests are available online, through our partner, Data Trace Publishing Company for only $35. Review the series and take the tests online.

A 10% premium discount can be applied for the 6 contact hours received for taking and passing the HPSO risk management course, provided that the certificate of completion is presented to HPSO by mail at 159 East County Line Road, Hatboro, PA 19040 or by fax at 800-758-3635. The course must have been taken within last 12 months in order for discount to be applied. Full-time individual HPSO customers cannot combine this discount with any other discount. This includes discounts for part-time, new graduate, retired or leave of absence. These customers may still take the course for CE credit, but are not eligible for the 10% premium discount.
