Obese Man Falls From Stretcher While Being Lifted Into Ambulance - $4,761 Verdict.

The plaintiff, in his forties, was being treated for various conditions in January 2002, including gastric bypass and bed sores. He weighed more than five hundred pounds and was being transferred to another facility. While being carried to an ambulance on a stretcher by EMS workers from an agency, the plaintiff fell from the stretcher as it was being lifted into the ambulance.

The plaintiff suffered a non-displaced chip fracture to his right (dominant) elbow. He was treated at the emergency room immediately after the fall. The fracture healed without surgery.

According to a published account, a $4,761 verdict was returned.
