One Milligram Tablet Prescription Filled With Ten Milligram Tablets - Cerebral Hemorrhage Causes Disability - Death Several Years Later - $25.85 Million Verdict.

The plaintiffs decedent, age forty-two, was diagnosed with cancer and prescribed one milligram tablets of warfarin. She filled the prescription at a Walgreens pharmacy, which mistakenly filled the prescription with ten milligram tablets. After taking the pills for about three weeks, the decedent suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, which rendered her completely disabled. She was unable to continue her cancer treatment and remained in medical and rehabilitation facilities until her death several years later.

The plaintiff claimed that the pharmacy was negligent in mis-filling the prescription.

According to a published account a $25.85 million verdict was returned.
