October 2008 Business Owners Legal Case Study

Failure to Provide Anti-Coagulation Medication Blamed for Death - Allegations of Improper Use of Physicians Assistants and Falsified Records Also Made - $2.4 Million Verdict.

The plaintiff claimed that the decedent’s death was due to the defendant’s failure to properly treat the decedent with anti-coagulant medication. The plaintiff claimed that the decedent, age twenty-eight, required the medication to prevent a blood clot. The plaintiff also claimed that the decedent’s medical records had been falsified. The plaintiff also claimed that the defendant rehabilitation facility where the decedent had been a patient, used physician’s assistants without providing adequate supervision for patient care in order to maximize profits.

According to a Trial Reporter, a $2.4 million verdict was returned.
