American Counseling Association Announces Expanded Partnership with HPSO – and a New Discount for its Members

The American Counseling Association has chosen to renew and expand its partnership with Healthcare Providers Service Organization (HPSO). This move will benefit ACA members by providing a 10% premium discount to its members who purchase professional liability insurance through HPSO.

The American Counseling Association has always encouraged its members – student and professional – to carry professional liability insurance to protect their finances and their professional practice.

In July of 2003, the insurance company serving the professional liability insurance needs of many ACA members faced financial troubles, and ACA chose HPSO to serve its members’ professional liability insurance needs. Since 2003, ACA has endorsed HPSO as the official provider of professional liability coverage for its members. In January 2009, ACA signed a new 5-year agreement with HPSO and its underwriter, American Casualty Company of Reading Pennsylvania, a CNA company. Through this new agreement, ACA began providing eligible ACA student members with professional liability insurance coverage as an additional value-added benefit of student membership.

At the ACA Annual Conference & Exposition in Charlotte, NC, Richard Yep, Executive Director of ACA, formally announced ACA was continuing the relationship with HPSO. As part of that new agreement, eligible ACA members will receive a 10% discount on professional liability insurance purchased through HPSO. This new benefit of membership is provided in recognition of the high professional standards to which ACA members must adhere. ACA members already insured through HPSO will receive the discount at their next policy renewal.
